let's make beetroot powder!

hello lovelies!

Have you ever used beetroot powder? Well, it's super beautiful. It magically transforms whatever you're using it in into a gorgeous shade of pink. It's also super good for you! Your cardiovascular system absolutely adores beets. If you're not super psyched on beets but want some of the health benefits they offer, then beetroot powder might be the solution for you. I like to add a little to my smoothies in the morning to give it a little extra somethin' somethin'.



Making beetroot powder is also relatively easy and not very time consuming. The only hard part about it is waiting!

I clearly didn't need an ingredients list, but I'm feeling funny.

All you have to do is slice your beets super thin to make little chips, preferably using a mandoline, and being extra careful! Mandolines are so scary, watch your fingers! Line dehydrator trays with your beet chips and set to 145. (You can also do this in your oven on the lowest setting, with the door left open to allow the moisture to escape). Dehydrate until no moisture is left, around 6-10 hours, depending how warm your house is. Once dry, throw into your vitamix or food processor and grind until it forms a powder! Carefully transfer to a airtight container and you're set. 




Apparently just one teaspoon of the powder is equivalent to one whole beet! That's pretty cool, if you ask me. Just think of all the possibilities this beetroot powder can bring you! No more artificial red food colouring for you! Just throw a smidgen of beetroot powder into the mix and you're done.
